Bad Piggies HD 2.4.3379

I can't say I really like the Angry Birds series. The premise is fun, the graphics and animations are hilarious, but the main reason I just can't fall in love with it is the same as why I don't love the Worms series: Ballistics. It seems that I'm never able to increase my skill in games that require setting the power and aiming. That's exactly why i was so surprised when I played Bad Piggies!

In Bad Piggies the game formula is turned on it's head. You no longer set aim by virtue of approximation to hit a standing structure. Here we calmly construct a 'moving' structure and then watch what happens. Levels will start up small, giving you some blocks, wheels and a green piggy to create your contraption. Blocks snap onto one another in a regular fashion while other appendages (such as wheels or fans) reorient themselves depending on which side they're facing. Once you've put your piggy in that thing, you can start the timer.

The main goal of each level is for the green piggy to reach a goal spot. However, there are two more varying objectives that can be pursued at the same time. For example, finishing the level without breaking your contraption, without using certain pieces or by picking up special crates that are found in less accessible places. This gives each level a nice degree of replayability.

Although in Bad Piggies you are deciding on your course of action before actually playing, there is still plenty of room for split second improvisation. Fans, pumps, TNT boxes, balloons and other moving parts can be activated during the run, so even though you've created the perfect machine for the level, you still need to control it all the way thorough.

I must say that Rovio hit the home-run with Bad Piggies as far as I'm concerned. It still has the funny graphics, but the gameplay now suits my preference entirely. The only issue that people seem to have is with Rovio's insatiable lust for ad revenue. However, this can be solved as usual, by turning off the device connection prior to playing.
